TIBCO Spotfire Statistics Services Local Adapter

The Spotfire Statistics Services Local Adapter is designed for use with 
the Spotfire client. 

Software and System Requirements
  To install and use the Spotfire Statistics Services Local Adapter, you must have:
   - An open-source R 3.0 or later installation, or an existing TIBCO Spotfire S+ 8.2.0 installation.
   - Spotfire 7.5 or later.
   - 150mb disk space.
   - 10 mb available memory.

32-bit and 64-bit Support
   The Spotfire Statistics Services Local Adapter has two installations: 
   one for 32-bit S-PLUS or open-source R, and one for 
   64-bit S-PLUS or open-source R. 

   -- You must run the 32-bit installation of Spotfire Statistics Services 
      Local Adapter with a 32-bit S-PLUS or open-source R engine. 
   
   -- You must run the 64-bit Spotfire Statistics Services Local Adapter with a 
      64-bit S-PLUS or open-source R engine.

   -- You can run the 32-bit Spotfire Statistics Services Local Adapter with
      a 32-bit S-PLUS or open-source R engine on a 64-bit 
      operating system.

Spotfire, see their respective documentation.

Install and Configure Spotfire Statistics Services Local Adapter:

  1.  Close all currently-running applications. (The Microsoft
      installer (MSI) might require this for both installing and 
      uninstalling Spotfire Statistics Services Local Adapter.)

  2.  Double-click the MSI icon and follow the installer's 
      instructions for installing Spotfire Statistics Services Local Adapter. 

  3.  Configure Spotfire Statistics Services Local Adapter to use with S-PLUS:

      a.  Click Start > All Programs  > TIBCO > 
          Spotfire Statistics Services Local Adapter 7.11.1.

      b.  Specify S-PLUS as your engine type, and provide your 
          engine location and your server port. Optionally, set the 
          advanced Java options and logging level. (For more information, 
          see the Help for Spotfire Statistics Services Local Adapter.)

  OR

  3.  Configure Spotfire Statistics Services Local Adapter to use with  
      open-source R:

	   Note  Open-source R and rJava are available under separate open 
                 source software license terms and is not part 
                 of TIBCO Spotfire Statistics Services Local Adapter. 
                 As such, open-source R and rJava are not within the scope 
                 of your license for TIBCO Spotfire Statistics Services Local 
                 Adapter. Open-source R and rJava are not supported, maintained,  
                 or warranted in any way by TIBCO Software Inc.  
                 Download and use of open-source R is solely at your own discretion  
                 and subject to the free open source license terms  
                 applicable to open-source R and rJava.

      a.  If you have not already done so, download and install 
          open-source R 3.0 (or later) for Windows 
          (http://www.r-project.org/).

      b.  Start a desktop session of R by selecting 
          Start > All Programs > R > R<ver#>.

      c.  In the open-source R Console, type install.packages("rJava"). The
          rJava package is installed.
          Note: You might be prompted to select a CRAN mirror.

      d.  Click Start > All Programs  > TIBCO > 
          Spotfire Statistics Services Local Adapter 7.11.1.

      e.  Specify your engine type, your engine location, and 
          your server port. Optionally, set the advanced Java 
          options and logging level. (For more information, see 
          the Help for Spotfire Statistics Services Local Adapter.)

Uninstall Spotfire Statistics Services Local Adapter:

  1.  Close all currently-running applications.

  2. From the Microsoft Windows Control Panel, double-click
     Add/Remove Applications.

  3. From the list, select TIBCO Spotfire Statistics Services 
     Local Adapter.
